As you probably know, St. Patrick's Day is kind of a big deal in Chicagoland. With the green river and one of the largest St. Patrick's Day parades in America, it's not a holiday that tends to go unnoticed around here. You'll find big and small celebrations taking place across every Chicagoland neighborhood

If you're wondering how to spend your St. Paddy's Day, you've come to the right place. Let our real estate agents be your guides to St. Paddy's Day festivities in the local area.

  • Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade - Grant Park, Chicago, IL 60605
Let's start with one of Chicago's most iconic events: the Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade. The 2024 parade gets moving at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, and you can count on a lively crowd. The parade begins near Grant Park at the intersection of Columbus Drive and Balbo Avenue before continuing northward towards the Chicago River, which will be dyed green as per tradition.

  • Northwest Side Irish Parade - N Neola Ave, Chicago, IL 60631
Although the Northwest Side Irish Parade may not be as famous as one that takes place downtown, it's no less of a beloved tradition in the Norwood Park neighborhood. Starting at noon on March 17, the parade gets underway at the corner of Neola and Raven near William J. Onahan Public School. The parade route stretches southwest on Neola Avenue before turning onto N. Northwest Highway, providing ample opportunity to enjoy the spectacle.

  • A City-Inspired Jazz Brunch - 145 W Main St, Barrington, IL 60010
For a more low-key St. Patrick's Day Experience, head to Barrington to take in A City-Inspired Jazz Brunch. Hosted at the beautiful Barrington White House — a historic mansion turned wedding and concert venue — the event will include a tasty brunch buffet along with live music from some of Chicago's best jazz musicians. A City-Inspired Jazz Brunch begins at 11 a.m. on March 17.

  • St. Patrick's Day River Dyeing Viewing Party - 71 E Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60601
You'll get one of the best views of the city at this year's St. Patrick's Day River Dyeing Viewing Party at the Royal Sonesta Chicago Downtown. Taking place on the 39th-story penthouse level, the party includes a breakfast buffet and open bar complete with green beer and Irish-themed cocktails. The Royal Sonesta is located on the south riverfront, footsteps from Millennium Park and the Magnificent Mile.

  • St. Patrick's Day Festival at Chief O'Neill's - 3471 N Elston Ave, Chicago, IL 606187
No St. Patrick's Day is complete without a visit to an authentic Irish Pub, and there's no doubt that Chief O'Neill's is one of Chicago's finest. A staple of the Avondale neighborhood, this landmark pub celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. In honor of the occasion, Chief O'Neill's Pub is throwing a St. Patrick's Day Festival, which culminates with two full days of live Irish music and traditional food and drink on March 16 and 17.

  • St. Paddy's Day Lucky Run - Elliot Park, Evanston, IL 60202
St. Patrick's Day tends to involve a lot of drinking and partying, so it's always a good idea to start the weekend by doing something healthy and active. The St. Paddy's Day Lucky Run 5k, 10k and half-marathon is a great option, taking place at Elliott Park in Evanston. The Lucky Day Run kicks off at 7:30 a.m. on the morning of March 16, rain or shine!
